GROUP TRAINING CLASSES
Group training classes are held at Morningside Pet Hospital located at 4560 Kingston Road in Scarborough. Puppy pre-school classes begin on Wednesday evenings at 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. and run for a 3 week duration. Beginner Adult Dog Classes (dogs 5 months and older) are held 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesdays for a 6 week duration. Beginner Adult Dog Classes are starting February 8th. Classes are kept small in order to provide personalized attention to families and their pets.
Morningside Pet Hospital and Freedom from the Doghouse firmly believe that it is essential to train and socialize your puppy. If your puppy is not exposed to appropriate stimuli during certain time frames there is a higher risk of developing behaviour problems that are connected with specific development periods. Under-socialized dogs are at much greater risk of developing behavioural problems stemming from fear, aggression, agoraphobia (fear of open spaces), and reactivity towards certain people and animals.
WHAT DO GROUP TRAINING CLASSES INCLUDE?
Instruction with Freedom from the Doghouse will give you the tools you need to develop the foundation for using positive reinforcement techniques that will ultimately result in a healthy and happy relationship with your family dog.
You will learn the essential elements to training your dog including: Attention and focus, sit, down, stand, give, walking with a loose leash, handling skills, doggie etiquette, the importance of play and dog bite prevention. Time is also spent on the problems you are having with house training, crate training, puppy proofing, jumping up and puppy play periods.

PRIVATE TRAINING SESSIONS
Freedom from the Doghouse provides in-home private training and behaviour modification sessions that allow you to train your dog at a time and place convenient to you and your family.
All training begins with a FREE no obligation telephone interview. An in-depth 2 hour consultation will follow at your location along with a personalized lesson based on your telephone interview and consultation. Once the initial visit is completed, an individualized plan will be developed keeping your personalized goals in mind. Additional sessions will then be booked to help accomplish your training and behavioural goals. All clients will have email and telephone support throughout the training sessions.
Training is not the same for every dog as each dog learns at a different pace and most dogs do not have identical behaviourial issues. You, along with the trainer, decide what is best for your dog and family situation. Sessions are not a series of ”cookie cutter” lessons. If your dog already knows how to sit and lie down, you do not waste time re-teaching these learned behaviours. Follow-up sessions are usually made a week or so apart to allow for practice time with your dog and can be adjusted to suit your individual schedule. Follow-up sessions last approximately 90-minutes and help to fine-tune your training needs.
In-home training is good for busy family schedules, business people, children, teenagers, the elderly, people who have anxiety and multiple dog homes.
Initial Visit
$90 consultation fee
Your first visit will be a session lasting approximately 2 hours where we will discuss training and behavioural issues that are of concern. This will allow for a comprehensive program that will be tailored to you and your dog’s needs. A lesson is also included in the consultation.
Following Visits
After your initial consultation the following fee structure can be used as a guideline. Sessions are usually once a week in your home with follow-up phone calls, emails, and personalized detailed information sheets concerning you and your dog. The sessions last for approximately 90-minutes at a rate of $75 per session. Programs vary depending on the needs of the individual dog and their owners. Multiple sessions may be purchased in advance as per below:

3 sessions – $225
A 5% discount will be applied to 4 or more sessions
4 sessions – $285.00
5 sessions – $356.25
6 sessions – $427.50
7 sessions – $498.75
8 sessions – $570.00
If there is more than one dog to be trained in the household an additional $50 charge will be applied to the second dog.

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS
Puppy Manners and Pre-School - 4 weeks
These sessions are done in the privacy of your own home with one on one instruction. These sessions are great for people who want obedience lessons but have a scheduling conflict or those individuals that require attention with specific areas of training or have a dog that does not work well in groups. This is for puppies that are over 5 months of age or older. It includes sorting out behavioural issues and also covers the basic commands: Watch-Me, Sit, Down, Stand, Stay, Come, Leave it, Take it, Leash Work, Give and Gotcha.
Each session is approximately 1 1/2 hours in length for a total cost of $295.
If you have more than one dog additional charges may apply.
Manners for Real Life
This program is for dogs 5 months and older that already have completed a puppy manners course and are ready for more advanced training. An assessment of the dog’s and owner’s abilities is required by the trainer in order to be eligible for this course.
Each session is approximately 1 1/2 hours in length for a total cost of $315.
